About Hard Drive Bad Sectors
A bad sector on a hard drive is simply a tiny cluster of storage space of the hard drive that appears to be defective. The sector won't respond to read or write requests. Bad sectors can occur on both traditional magnetic hard drives and modern solid-state drives, such as a hard drive, external HDD, USB flash drive, pen drive, or a memory card. There are two types of bad sectors: one resulting from physical damage that can't be repaired, and the other resulting from software errors that can be fixed. The common reasons that would lead to bad sectors include long-term use, malware, virus attack, scratch, and fall apart.
If your hard disk is severely damaged, you should send it to a drive repair center immediately. In some cases, data recovery software and bad sector repair software could quickly remove the bad sectors without losing data on the drive.
