Can You Transfer Steam Games to Another Account

Can I transfer a game I have played to a different account on my PC? For instance, I wish to permanently move my Civil VI from Account A to Account B.

No, you can't transfer Steam games to another account, as Steam's terms of service don't allow users to transfer games between accounts. However, using the Family Sharing option could be a workaround. If Family Sharing is enabled on the PC and the accounts involved, one account may be able to access the games of another account on the same PC.

Note: Only one user can access the shared library at a time.

  • Ensure the accounts are authorized on the same PC.
  • Enable Steam Guard on the sharing and receiving accounts: Steam > Settings > Account and tick the box next to "Steam Guard."
  • Authorize the sharing PC: Go to Steam > Settings > Family on the sharing account, and check the box next to "Authorize this computer."
  • To enable Family Sharing, navigate to Steam > Settings > Family > Manage other computers... button> Authorize Library Sharing on this computer.
  • Accept the sharing request on the receiving account.
