Can't Extend the C Drive Even Though There Is Unallocated Space

I have a 250GB NVMe SSD on my Windows 10 laptop. However, for some reason, 60GB of the drive is unallocated. Normally, I would merely click the C partition's 'extend volume' option, but it's grayed off. How can I fix it?

Why can't you extend the C drive even though there is unallocated space on your hard drive? Generally, it's because the free space isn't behind the C drive. Due to the limitation of Windows Disk Management, users can only extend volumes with adjacent unallocated space. Or, you will encounter Extend Volume greyed out in your Disk Management.

Luckily, you can break free by applying the third-party partition management tool - EaseUS Partition Master Professional. This tool can help you expand the partitions effectively when the available unallocated or free space is non-adjacent. Its "Resize/Move" feature empowers users to extend/shrink/move hard drive partitions.

Install this powerful manager and fix can't extend the C drive:

Step 1. Launch EaseUS Partition Master to open the Partition Manager tab. Find the system C drive and right-click it.

Step 2. After choosing "Resize/Move," drag the target partition to the location where the unallocated space is next to the C disk. Alternatively, you can drag the dot to add space to the C drive immediately.

Step 3. Press "OK" and execute the task.

If you don't have unallocated space on the hard drive, you can rely on the "Allocate space" of EaseUS Partition Master:
