Here is how you can create a restore point in Windows 10 using Command Prompt:

  • To open the Run dialog, press the Windows key + R.
  • To open Command Prompt in admin/elevated mode, type cmd in the Run dialog box and then press CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER.
  • Type or copy and paste the command below into the command prompt window and hit Enter:

         wmic.exe /Namespace:\\root\default Path SystemRestore Call CreateRestorePoint "", 100, 7

  • Replace the <RestorePointName> placeholder with any name you like.

Though it is convenient to use a built-in tool like System Restore to back up all your data, it is relatively slow, and you need to check if its backup is stored occasionally.
