As we know, write protection is used to protect the files in your external drives from accidental deletion or modification. But sometimes, the drive is write-protected automatically, which influences its performance. A pen drive became write-protected for many reasons:

  • The pen drive is physically damaged.
  • The pen drive is affected by a virus or malware.
  • The file format is not compatible with the PC.

There are many solutions to remove the write protection of a pen drive, but some do not always work. In this article, we select two practical and reliable solutions. Then, if you want to make the device writable again, continue to read and learn. The first method is EaseUS Partition Master Free, provided as the trump card, which can deal with any rugged write protection.

Learn the steps of how to use EaseUS Partition Master as follows:

Step 1. Launch the EaseUS Partition Master on your PC.

Step 2. Enter the "Toolkit" section, and click "Write Protection."

Step 3. Find your write-protected pen drive and select "Disable."

Check if the method works:

Reconnect the pen drive to the computer, open it, and check if you can add files to it.

The second solution is to tackle the problem by changing the read-write properties of your pen drive, a classic way people would use to disable the write protection on the pen drive.

Here is how to do so:

Step 1. Go to "My Computer/This PC" and click "Devices."

Step 2. Right-click the write-protected pen drive and enter "Properties."

Step 3. Check both read and write permissions and click "OK."

Save the change and try to write the data again. At last, we recommend you keep the drive clean from dust, water, or damage and scan it regularly to maintain its health. If you are interested in more information, check this out:
