Should Windows 10 be GPT or MBR?

I know there are two disk formats, and I'm using MBR. Since my computer installed Windows 10, I wonder which is better for my OS. Should I change the format to GPT, and how? Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks in advance.

GPT is more potent than MBR in many aspects as a newer partitioning scheme. To answer your question, we will briefly introduce the advantages of the GPT disk to help you make your decision:

  • Supported primary partition number: GPT disk has up to 128 primary partitions and can create unlimited logical partitions. In comparison, MBR supports up to four primary partitions and has a limited number of others.
  • Disk size: GPT can hold a disk capacity of more than 3 TB, while MBR has a maximum disk size of 2 TB.
  • Compatible OS: GPT can be compatible with higher operating systems, such as Windows 11, 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 8, 8.1, 10. MBR supports 32-bit Windows 8, 8.1, 10, and 7/XP/Vista.

To sum up, it would be better to use GPT for your Windows 10. Converting MBR to GPT is not a challenging task, and you can use the command line and built-in utility Disk management. However, both require deleting the partitions or data on the MBR disk, which could threaten data security. It's time to use a safe third-party tool, EaseUS Partition Master, which can simplify your disk conversion process and prevent your disk from losing data.
