Is It Possible to Copy the Recovery Partition to a New Hard Drive?

I partitioned the primary disk of my laptop. And I purchased a new SSD as the boot drive. How can I copy the recovery and boot partitions from HDD to SSD? After cloning, is it possible for me to remove the recovery partition on the HDD?

Your computer may have two kinds of recovery partitions. One is pre-installed by the manufacturer and is used to retrieve the factory settings. Windows creates another one during installations, which applies to restoring Windows OS when the system is corrupted or crashed. Many users want to free up disk space by moving their recovery partitions to another drive.

Regarding the Windows recovery partition, you can copy and clone it to a new hard drive. However, the partition clone procedure may lead to data loss. I comprehend the frustration and worry when any error or accidental affair happens. Therefore, I will introduce a foolproof partition/disk clone assistant - EaseUS Partition Master Professional. This best cloner can copy a whole partition/disk to another drive.

Compared to the recovery partition clone, a disk clone is safer for most users. Here are two tutorials related to partition/disk cloning:

Step 1. Access the EaseUS Partition Master and enter the "Clone" tab. Choose the "Clone OS Disk" or "Clone Data Disk" and click "Next."

Step 2. Choose the source and target disk and click "Next."

  • When the Warning message pops up, read and confirm with the "Yes" button.

Step 3. Change the target disk partition size and view the disk layout.

Step 4. Next, click "Continue" when the software notifies you that all data will be deleted.

After all is done, if you want to delete the recovery partition on the HDD, read and follow the comprehensive guide below:
