Hi there. It is not difficult to distinguish between disk cloning and disk imaging.

Disk cloning is the process of cloning all the partitions of your hard drive and the data stored on them to another hard drive. During the cloning process, the tool you are using will create the same partitions on the new drive based on the partition structure of the source drive.

The disk image will help you to archive and back up all the data on the disk. It will exist in the form of a storage file and will be able to save all the data from the source hard disk.

In short, both disk cloning and disk imaging can copy all contents of the source hard disk, but disk cloning is able to make identical and usable copies, while disk imaging creates a file that can be used to make identical and usable copies. That's the essential difference between them.

In terms of efficiency, I would recommend that you clone your hard drive more than create a hard disk image. Since you mentioned that you don't know more about the field of data security, I also recommend a good cloning tool for you - EaseUS Disk Copy
