If you want to view photos on a Mac from an external hard drive, follow the steps here:

  • First, carefully connect the external hard drive to your Mac with a USB cable and connector.
  • Now, you need to open the Finder by clicking its icon from the Dock. You can also hold the Command + N to open it.
  • Now, from the left panel of Finder, under the "Locations" tab, you can find your external hard drive. Click your hard drive and select it.
  • Now, locate your target folder where your photos are saved on the external hard drive.
  • If you have no idea which folder the photos are stored in, you can utilize the search feature in the Finder. You can search either file extension or file name.
  • Once you find the photos you want to view, double-click them to preview. To store them on your Mac, simply drag them to any folder you want.

What to do if you find your photos are lost or when you have accidentally deleted them? Use EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard for Mac. Even after you delete them from the folder or empty the Trash bin. You can download this free data recovery software for Mac and follow the steps here:

Step 1. Choose your external hard drive and start scanning by clicking "Scan".

Step 2. You can choose "Pictures" to locate your lost files. You can also click "Lots" to locate your files better.

Step 3. To preview the photos you want to recover, double-click them. Then click "Recover" to restore your photos.
