I connected my MyPassport drive to my Laptop yesterday to check certain files in my reference library. I received a notification stating that it was corrupted or illegible. Explorer usually recognizes it as my passport, but this time, it only recognizes it as an E drive. When I check Explorer without the Passport connected, it does not show drive E. I tried using CHKDSk to check it, but it freezes at 13% in Stage 4. Is there any software I can use to recover data? Any ideas are welcome.

If your hard disk drive becomes unresponsive or unreadable, it may become RAW. This problem can be caused by factors such as BIOS settings, USB data lines, USB interface voltage variability, hidden drive issues, or compatibility issues. But no matter the reason, your data is now lost or inaccessible.
Professional data recovery tools like EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard can recover your corrupted or unreadable data. It can recover lost data caused by accidental deleting, formatting, and so on from devices like Western Digital external hard drives.
Do as follows to recover RAW drive:
Step 1. Launch EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard on your computer.
Step 2. Click "Scan" to look for the lost files if the RAW partition has its label. If the label is lost, select the "Lost Partition" and click "Scan" to initiate an overall scan on the RAW drive.
Step 3. After the process is finished, you will see all available files displayed. You can choose and view which files you want to recover.
Step 4. Select the files you want to recover and click "Recover" to recover all the data. Select a file or another drive to save the recovered data and click "OK" to start RAW drive recovery.
Other than utilizing the data recovery software, there are different workable ways.
First, you can establish a connection between your USB Data Line and other devices to see if it is broken. What's more, if your drive is inaccessible, you can use Disk Management to unhide it. But they all require specific knowledge and take longer than enabling EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard, which can even recover permanently deleted folders. Download and launch it once your My Passport Ultra corrupted or unreadable.
