To help you merge partitions without data loss, I will provide the safest way and its step-by-step guide in this article. Before that, let's analyze why we need to combine partitions into one. Here are the main reasons:

  • Extend partition with available space: The frequently encountered situation is one partition shows low space while others have free space. Combining this full partition with another partition with a lot of free space will solve this question.
  • Simplify partition management and backup: Multiple partitions are hard to manage or back up. Merging partitions can significantly improve the hard drive's management and shorten the data backup process.

Since you must delete volumes before combining two partitions using Disk Management, it may not be the best choice. I will introduce the safest way - EaseUS Partition Master, which can merge two partitions without deleting a partition or any data. Furthermore, Disk Management only allows you to merge partitions that are next to each other, but EaseUS Partition Master empowers you to combine partitions that are non-adjacent.

Option 1. For Adjacent Partitions

Step 1. Launch EaseUS Partition Master, right-click on the partition that is kept, and choose "Merge."

Step 2. Pick one partition next to the selected partition to combine. Click "OK" to check.

Step 3. Select "Execute Task" > "Apply" to confirm the process of combining two partitions.

Option 2. For Non-adjacent Partitions

Disk Management cannot extend volume when the two partitions are not adjacent. However, the EaseUS Partition Master will cover you with its "Allocate Space" feature in this case.

Step 1. Under the "Partition Manager" tab, right-click the partition with free space and choose "Allocate Space."

Step 2. Find the low-space partition and drag the partition panel rightward to increase space. Then click "OK" to ensure.

Step 3. Click the "Execute Task" button > "Apply" option to boost the process.
