Is There Any Way To Run Windows Software Directly From a USB Drive, Without Installing It in The Computer's Hard Disk?

Due to the nature of my job I need to travel frequently. I am wondering if I can install the Windows OS on a USB drive so I can use my system on any device when the USB is plugged in. I don’t know if it is possible. Do you have any advice?
