We can't say it is good or bad to clone an HDD to an SSD. It depends on the users. But generally speaking, it is good to clone an HDD to an SSD. It allows you to use your new SSD shortly after purchase.

Cloning is not a bad thing. In most cases, cloning is quite helpful and convenient. But bear in mind that cloning creates an exact copy of your system, so if there are issues with the installation of your current system, those issues will persist if you move to a new disk.

An SDD has many advantages over an HDD. It has faster reading and writing speed, better performance and reliability, and stronger durability. Therefore, cloning HDD to SSD is a good practice to improve your computer's performance. If you plan to replace an HDD with an SSD, you can try to clone the HDD to SSD with the help of professional third-party software, such as EaseUS Disk Copy.
