The "HDD to SSD cloning keeps failing" error may be caused by the following factors:

  • Bad sectors on the hard drive. Bad sectors will greatly affect the cloning process when cloning disks. In addition, some disk cloning tools may fail to clone hard drive with bad sectors, like Clonezilla.
  • Partition size. Some of the cloned partitions must be resized when cloning a hard disk to a smaller SSD; if the disk clone program is unable to resize, an error message will appear.

When cloning an HDD to an SSD or upgrading to a larger hard drive, you must use third-party disk cloning software like EaseUS Disk Copy, Macrium Reflect, and Clonezilla. This is because Windows has no preinstalled cloning settings.

However, Macrium Reflect is no longer free, and you need to pay a lot to use its cloning features. Worse still, some users have reported when they use Clonezilla to clone a hard drive, they have encountered the system unbootable after cloning disk with Clonezilla and it fails to clone bad sectors. Therefore, it is recommended to use EaseUS Disk Copy, a dedicated disk cloning tool.

It is an efficient and reliable disk cloning program for Windows computers. It can help you clone hard drives from various makers and transfer data from HDD to SSD, including your installed OS, without any data loss. In addition, it can let you clone a hard drive with bad sectors easily and quickly.

EaseUS disk clone software can help you clone a hard drive easily and quickly due to its simple UI design and advanced cloning algorithm. If you have a new computer, it can also help you transfer data from an old drive to a new PC without trouble.

If you meet the cloning HDD to SSD keeps failing on your computer, you can try a better disk cloning tool - EaseUS Disk Copy.
