Can You Clone a Dead Hard Drive?

Hi everyone, my grandad's pc has broken, so he replaced it, and with it went the hard drive he suspects. I know you can take data from a dead hard drive, and that's what he's asked me to do. How easy would this be/how would I go about doing it?

If your hard drive fails gradually, can't work properly, or is dead totally, It's time to change and replace it with a new one. Before replacing, you can clone the failed hard drive with professional disk cloning software, like EaseUS Disk Copy. It enables you to create a copy of your hard drive even when the system can't boot. Now follow the steps below to clone your dead hard drive.

  • Remove your dead hard drive from the computer, and connect it to another working PC as an external device.
  • Install and launch EaseUS Disk Copy on the working computer.
  • Click Disk Mode on the home interface.
  • Select the dead hard drive as the source disk.
  • Choose the target disk to save the cloned data.
  • Click "Proceed" to start the cloning process, and wait for it to finish.

Now you have gotten a copy of data on your dead hard drive. Above is the situation when the dead hard drive won't boot up the computer. If it can boot successfully, you don't need to use another computer, just operate on your original PC. I hope this helps you.
