How to Back up Apacer USB Flash Drive

If you're still able to open files on the affected USB drive, just copy and paste the files to another storage space. This will protect your data even if the USB drive stops working. Step 1. Connect your Apacer USB flash drive to the computer and run the repair tool. 

Step 2. To wipe the drive and start as new, select "Format". Next, choose the drive, then the file system you want to use (NTFS, FAT16, etc.). To begin, click Format, then wait for the process to complete.

Step 3. For a low-level format (one that returns the drive to its default factory settings), select the "Restore" option. Confirm your choice, then wait for the process to complete.

Important
If you get the write-protected error message "The disk is write protected", please note that you can successfully format the device only after you remove the write protection from the Apacer USB flash drive.

Regedit.exe is a free Apacer write-protected format utility that can help. 

Step 1. Press Windows + R to open Run, then type Regedit to open the Registry editor. 

Step 2. In the Registry Editor, Navigate to the following key: 
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

Step 3. Double-click on the WriteProtect value in the right-hand pane of Regedit.exe. Change the Value data from 1 to 0 and click OK to save the change. 

Step 4. After completing all the steps above, reconnect your Apacer USB drive and you should find that the write protection has been removed. Now you'll be able to format the drive.

After finishing all the steps, re-connect your Apacer USB flash drive, and you will find that the write protection has been removed and the device is available for formatting.
