Why Can't I Extend the E Drive

Recently, I have installed my new games on the E drive. However, the E drive is out of disk space, and I was unable to extend it in Disk Management.

Many Windows have encountered the can't extend volume issue. In this case, the "Extend volume" in Disk Management becomes grey and disabled. It may be because there is no unallocated disk space, or this free space is not behind the E drive you want to resize.

To fix this issue seamlessly, you should rely on an outstanding disk manager. EaseUS Partition Master Professional, which can break this limitation and extend the E drive without adjacent unallocated space. Check how to do it:

Tool 1. Allocate Space

For: no allocated space on the whole disk.

Step 1. In "Partition Manager", right-click the partition with plenty of free space and choose "Allocate Space."

Step 2. Then, select the E drive and drag its panel rightward to add the unallocated space from another partition. Click "OK" to execute this action.

Step 3. Choose the "Execute Task" > "Apply" options to confirm the operation.

Tool 2. Resize/Move

For: has unallocated space but non-adjacent

Step 1. In the "Partition Manager" window, locate the E drive, and select "Resize/Move."

Step 2. Drag its partition panel left or right to add the unallocated space into the E drive, and hit "OK."
