Should I Convert My Secondary HDD from MBR to GPT? How to Do?

Hi, I have been using UEFI with my SSD (GPT), but my three other HDDs that are meant for storage are in MBR format. Do I need to convert them into GPT or leave it as is? Besides, I want to know how to convert these HDDs to GPT.

With technological advancements in computing, new things are boosting while the old things bust. Therefore, if you want to use more than 2TB drives or install new Windows on your PC, you'd better change the partition style from MBR to GPT. Except for having a faster boot speed, the biggest bonus is that if any of the GPT disk's partitions get corrupted, it doesn't affect the other partitions. However, if one of the MBR partitions gets corrupted, the whole disk will malfunction.

Hence, I will offer two effective methods to help you realize the conversion from MBR to GPT. The first recommendation is to use EaseUS Partition Master, a professional partition tool that allows you to convert MBR to GPT effortlessly.

Read the guide on how to convert MBR to GPT using EaseUS Partition Master:

Friendly reminder: To prevent your data from being corrupted and damaged by mechanical failure of your device, back up and restore your data in a safe place.

Step 1. Install EaseUS Partition Master on your computer by clicking the download button.

Step 2. Pick the "Convert MBR to GPT" function from the "Disk Converter" section, and click "Next."

Step 3. Choose the MBR disk you want to change in the options below and hit "Convert" to set up.

If you have the administrator privilege of Windows, you can try to use Disk Management, the built-in utility of Windows that can convert GPT to MBR. However, before you start, clone the critical data to an external hard drive to protect your data from damage or loss.

Here is how to do it:

Step 1. Right-click on "This PC," open "Manage," then go to "Disk Management."

Step 2. Right-click any volumes on your GPT disk and choose "Delete Volume..." from the menu.

Step 3. Right-click the disk and choose "Convert to MBR Disk" after the disk shows as unallocated space.

I hope my answer can help you fix the issue.
