I Am Unable to Extend C Volume in VM Windows, How to Fix

Dear All Pro IT, I need your help. The thing is, I still have a free 100GB that is unallocated, but my VM is unable to enlarge the c volume. What issue is this error meant to solve? I have Windows 2016. How can I fix this issue?

First, I will explain why you can't extend C volume even if your disk has unallocated space. When your C volume is almost full, you can extend it with unallocated space on your hard drive with Disk Management. However, this tool has its limitations - The "Extend Volume" option in the built-in tool Disk Management is only operable when the volume you want to extend has adjacent unallocated space.

To extend C volume in Disk Management, you must ensure free space is right behind the partition you want to expand, which requires much effort and time. In this case, I recommend you try a professional third-party partition manager - EaseUS Partition Master. With its "Resize/Move" feature, you are free to increase the C volume using non-adjacent unallocated space effortlessly. In addition, it can help you allocate space from other partitions when you have no free space.

Here is what you are required to do:

Step 1. Launch EaseUS Partition Master on your computer and navigate to "Partition Manager."

Step 2. Right-click on the partition that needs to be expanded, choose the "Resize/Move" feature, and drag and move the end of the C volume into the free space. Click "OK."

Step 3. Click "Apply" to confirm the change and click "Done" to close the window.

If you are unafraid of challenges and hardships, you can also shrink the adjacent partition to extend C volume. Here is a comprehensive guide on how to shrink volume in Windows:
