My laptop recently always pops up a window to warn me that I am running out of space on Local (C:)...How can I free up more space and continue to use it? Or do you have any other suggestions?

If your C drive is full, you can try these methods to free up more space:

  • Use Windows's inbuilt Disk Cleanup to delete these useless large junk files and folders.
  • Clean up Temporary files that Windows OS generates.
  • Empty Recycle Bin regularly from time to time.
  • Migrate some large files to another partition or disk.

Generally speaking, when your C drive is running out of space, it is a signal that means your hard drive has problems, some of which are irreversible.

'Freeing up more space' is only a temporary solution since your OS will generate more files continuously. If you want to solve the issue once and for all, upgrading to a larger hard drive or SSD is the best choice.

EaseUS Disk Copy is a professional disk cloning software that can help you upgrade your HDD/SSD with simple operation. No matter what type of disk you use, this robust tool can move OS and other data to another drive without any hassle, and you can boot from the new drive smoothly.

Download EaseUS Disk Copy and start upgrading your hard drive easily.

  • Connect the new larger hard drive to your Windows computer.
  • Launch EaseUS Disk Copy, and a new window will ask, "A new drive on this computer was found, do you want to migrate OS to the new drive?". Click the Yes button, and it will automatically select all system-related partitions and files.
  • Adjust the target disk layout to fit into the new disk.
  • Click the Proceed button, and a message will appear to warn you that data will be lost. Please confirm this message by clicking Continue
  • Wait for the process to complete.

When the cloning process finishes, you can replace the old drive with the new cloned one and boot from it. As for the old drive, you can format it and use it as a secondary storage drive.
