What to Do When NVMe SSD Shows Empty But It's Not

Oliver updated on Nov 30, 2023 to Disk Management Questions Answered | How-to Articles

I have cloned all the applications and files from the HDD on my old computer to this new NVMe SSD. After I installed the SSD on the new PC, I could see nothing in it. There are no files, no programs, nothing. The NVMe SSD shows empty, but it's not. Why is this happening, and how am I supposed to fix this? Appreciate any help!

Many factors could cause your NVMe SSD to show empty on your computer even though it's not, such as the files being hidden, the SSD being corrupted, file system errors, viruses or malware attacks, etc. They can all prevent the data on your NVMe SSD from being displayed.

To fix the issue, you can try reconnecting the SSD and running anti-virus software first. If they don't solve the problem, resort to a practical third-party tool, EaseUS Partition Master Free.

This powerful tool can help you deal with various issues on disks and partitions. Here, I will show you a few common solutions to SSD showing empty:

Solution 1. Show the Hidden Partitions

Step 1. Launch EaseUS Partition Master and go to the "Partition Manager" tab.

Step 2. Check if there's any partition with no drive letter. If there is, click the target partition and then choose "Unhide" in the feature list to show it in the File Explorer.

Solution 2. Check and Fix File System Error

Step 1. Launch EaseUS Partition Master and go to the "Discovery" tab to open EaseUS CleanGenius.

Step 2. Click "Optimization" on the left panel, and then choose "File Showing."

Step 3. Choose the target drive, tick the "Check and fix file system error" option, and hit "Execute."

Step 4. After it finishes the repair process, hit "here" to view the result.
