How Do I Move Files on My Computer Instead of Copying

I have built a new desktop with an SSD and an HDD. The problem is that Windows Easy Transfer only allows me to transfer data from my old PC to my C drive on SSD. Now, I need to move them to the D drive, but I'm only allowed to do so by copying them and then deleting every copied file on the C drive. How do I move files on my computer instead of copying? Thanks!

If you are unable to move files to the D drive directly, there might be some limitations from Windows. Therefore, to bypass the restriction and move files to another drive, you need a professional third-party file transfer tool.

I recommend EaseUS Todo PCTrans Professional because it offers a Backup & Restore function that can help you move files, applications, user accounts, and settings with a few simple clicks. Follow the guide below to move your files to another drive without copying:

Step 1. Open EaseUS Todo PCTrans and navigate to "Backup & Restore."

Step 2. Click "Start" and go to "Data Backup" to select the files you want to transfer and create a backup file for them.

Step 3. Then, go to "Data Restore" and choose the backup file you just created to restore your files to the target drive.

If there are still files or programs on your old PC waiting to be transferred, you can refer to the following page to perform a PC-to-PC transfer.
