Can I Transfer My Windows 11 License to a New Computer

I purchased a Windows 11 Pro upgrade for my Windows 11 Home Edition on an HP laptop a couple of months ago. But the laptop died for some reason, and I purchased a new ASUS laptop with Windows 11 Home Edition. I want to upgrade it to Windows 11 Pro since I have already purchased the license. The main problem is that I don't have the serial key for the Windows 11 Pro license now. Is there any way to find it? Thanks!

Yes, you can transfer the Windows 11 license to a new PC as long as it's not a pre-installed OEM license. It takes two stages to transfer the Windows 11 between two computers:

Stage 1. Uninstall Windows 11 on the old PC

Step 1. Search for Command Prompt in the search bar and run it as administrator.

Step 2. Input slmgr.vbs /upk and hit "Enter" to uninstall the Windows license.

Stage 2. Activate Windows 11 on the new PC

Step 1. Install Windows on your new laptop.

Step 2. Search for Command Prompt in the search bar and run it as administrator.

Step 3. Input the following command lines in sequence and press "Enter" to activate Windows 11 license:

  • slmgr /ipk
  • slmgr /dIv

If you forgot or didn't have the Windows 11 product key noted down, you'll need a reliable tool like EaseUS Todo PCTrans Professional to find it.

Check the steps here to recover your Windows 11 on the old laptop:

Step 1. Open EaseUS Todo PCTrans and navigate to the "Product Key" tab.

Step 2. Click "Scan," and you can then find the Windows license key from the list of product keys.
