After weeks of tinkering, I've perfected my steam deck. All of my official Steam deck downloads and installations are stored on my internal hard drive. All of my EmuDeck and Steam Rom Manager installs, and configurations are on my 1TB SD card. My major concern is, what is the best way to back up my SD Card? I only have a Windows 10 laptop; how can I do that?

Steam Deck allows its users to load and play games on SD cards, and SD cards are also an ideal way to expand Steam Deck's storage space. It is critical to back up your SD card in order to keep your game data safe.

The procedure of backing up a Steam Deck SD card on a Windows device is complicated, so you must plan ahead of time to guarantee that the backup is effective and recoverable.

  • Another SD card that has equal or larger storage space to save the backup.
  • A USB-C-card hub to connect an SD card to a Windows laptop or computer.
  • Download a reliable backup tool that works for SD card backup, like EaseUS Todo Backup.

With all the preparations done, you can start the SD card backup now.

Step 1. Unplug the SD card from your Steam Deck, and connect both the source and target SD card to your Windows computer via an adapter. Ensure both drives can be recognized correctly.

Step 2. Launch EaseUS Todo Backup on your computer > Create Backup > Disk.

Step 3. Select the SD card that saves your game data as the source disk.

Step 4. Choose the new empty SD card as the target disk.

Step 5. Click Backup now to start the SD card backup.

Wait until the process finishes, unplug the SD card, and all the game data will be backed up to the new one.

To restore the backup, connect the backup card to Steam Deck, format the SD card placed on Steam, and then copy all data from the backup to the SD card.

EaseUS Todo Backup is a fantastic tool for backing up all digital data. Download and try it out.
