How to Change Windows Server 2TB Limit

I have a 6TB lun that I need to install Windows on and create partitions for an 80GB OS, but I can't find a way to change the default cluster size of the MBR drive. I need to change the NTFS default from 512 to 2K or 4K to support a full 6TB lun.

Cluster size is part of the NTFS format, and changing the cluster size does not allow the drive to break the 2TB limit. You need to change the partition style to create partitions larger than 2TB on Windows.

MBR cannot support drives larger than 2TB. Instead, most newer operating systems support GPT data drives. You can use drives larger than 2TB on GPT. Or you can create a boot partition on the MBR and store other data on the GPT partition.

Converting MBR to GPT is easy. EaseUS Partition Master Server is a full-featured utility for partition management. It will help you to quickly convert MBR to GPT without losing data.

Note: If you have important information on your MBR disk, you can back it up with a professional backup tool. This process can prevent data loss.

Follow these steps to change the 2TB limit on Windows:

Step 1. Open EaseUS Partition Master and select "Disk Converter" on the right side.

Step 2. Select the operation you want to perform: "Convert MBR to GPT" and click "Next."

Step 3. Select the disk you want to change and click "Convert."

Wait a while, and you can successfully create a larger partition on your hard drive.
