Ulitimate Guide for Corrupted Video on Sony Handycam

I have and important video taken with a Sony Handycam HDR-cx300. It plays back fine when I check it on my camera, but I cannot open it with any video play software on my PC, even after converting its format. Adobe Media Converter says that the file is corrupted, but it can still be played on my camera. Is there a way to access the video?

You can first try copying the file directly from the camcorder to your PC without help from an SD card reader or something. If it still cannot be played, you may try to repair your corrupted video on Sony Handycam with the help of EaseUS Fixo Video Repair - an all-in-one video repair tool.

Here are the detailed steps you can refer to:

Step 1. Open your EaseUS Fixo Video Repair, choose "Video Repair" from the left panel, and add corrupted videos by clicking "Add Videos".

Step 2. If you want to repair one specific video, move your pointer to the video and click "Click". You can also click "Repair All" to repair all the videos added.

Step 3. Wait for the process to end. You can click the eye icon to view the repaired videos. Like step 2, you can save one single video by clicking "Save" or "Save All" to save all videos needed to a safe place.

Besides using video repair software, you can also try opening your video with another media player, like a VLC. If you coincidentally have already downloaded it, you can also perform VLC repair:

Open VLC media player
Select "Tools" from the upper left and go to "Preferences"
Select the "Input/Codecs" under the Simple Preferences box
Find the "Damaged or Incomplete AVI file" section
Select "Always fix" from the drop-down menu and click "Save"
