"When I use file backup located in the Activity window under File History, it is either hanging up, slow or not working. It runs so long that I have to manually turn it off. I see that the USB drive that I chose to back up my files is responding but it even after an hour the drive is still active. And the activity center says that it is still backing up so I end up turning it off and stopping the backup.  Is there anything I can do to solve the problem? This File History is so slow that it takes forever to load!"

Three Steps to Fix "Windows 10 File History is Running Slow" Issue

If your File History takes forever to load, you must follow these steps to fix this issue and backup your data in a fast way. First, you must perform a clean boot and then use SFC to scan your error, and finally, use a useful backup tool to backup data even terabytes of data quickly. Now, follow the details below:

Step one. Perform a Windows 10 Clean Boot

  • From Start, search for msconfig.
  • Select System Configuration from the search results.
  • On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click Disable all.
  • On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click Open Task Manager.
  • On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then click Disable.

Step Two. Run System File Checker and Fix the Slow File History
