  • What version of Exchange is supported by EaseUS Todo Backup?

    EaseUS Todo Backup supports Exchange 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016.

  • What version of SQL is supported by EaseUS Todo Backup?

    EaseUS Todo Backup supports MS SQL 2005/2008/2008 R2/2012/2014 and 2016. The extension of MS SQL backup image file is .PBD.

  • What is the difference between EaseUS Todo Backup Workstation, Server, Advanced Server and Technician version?

  • I am not so tech-savvy and I don’t know much about EaseUS Todo Backup. How can I walk through this product easily?

    It is highly recommended that you refer to our user guide and watch the introduction video tutorial. If you still have any further inquiry about the product, please write an email to our tech support to get further assistance.

  • How can I know how much space I need to save the image file?

    Before you create a backup image, you can estimate how much space you will need to save the image based on the size of the selected data. For example, if the selected data is 500GB, then you'd better ensure that the target location has about 500GB free space.

  • How can I confirm that the backup image is complete and can be restored?

    You can use Check Image feature to verify if the image is complete or not. If the check can be completed, then it means that the image is complete and can be restored.

  • Can I restore the image created by Trial version after the 30-day free trial period?

    The trial version cannot be used any further after expiration but the image created by trial version will not expire. You will be able to restore that image after activating the trial version.

  • What is the image file created by EaseUS Todo Backup? Can it be decrypted by other applications?

    EaseUS Todo Backup creates a .PBD image file that cannot be decrypted by any 3rd-party application. The .PBD file can only be opened on the PC having this product installed. You can choose to restore the whole image or double click the image to browse the individual files to restore.

  • What is the difference between Clone and Backup? In what cases should I use Clone?

    Clone will copy a disk to another disk, a partition to another unknown partition on the same disk and a partition to another disk. Usually, this option is used to upgrade the current disk by creating an identical copy from the source location to the destination. Backup will generate a .PBD image file containing the selected files or system that can be restored from the .PBD image if needed.

  • How can I restore a system backup when my computer fails to boot?

    Generally, you will be prompted to create an emergency disk when you install and run EaseUS Todo Backup for the first time. The emergency disk will be useful to load a system backup prior to Windows when the PC refuses to boot.

  • What is the difference between System Backup and Disk Backup?

    System Backup will auto-select the system boot related partition(s) as backup source to make sure the system image can be restored normally. Disk/Partition Backup will allow you to manually select the whole disk or specify a certain partition as a backup source. You will get a same backup result as System Backup if you manually select the system and boot partitions with Disk/Partition Backup option.

  • What kind of storage device should I use to save my backup image?

    EaseUS Todo Backup can save backup images to internal disks, external disks, network drives, Cloud(Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive) and CD/DVD. It is suggested to save the images to the internal/external/network drives to save time as those kinds of disks have a better read-write speed. It is suggested NOT to save the image on the same disk together with the source file, because once the disk is damaged, all the files on the disk will become unavailable and you will be unable to restore the image.

  • As a company network administrator, what features should I use to protect our internal computers?

    It is recommended that you use the SQL Backup feature to back up your company's SQL server and Exchange Backup feature to back up the Exchange server. In addition, you can execute System backup to back up the system and boot partitions on every internal computer and set a plan to execute the backup once a day or twice a week to ensure that the computer can be restored timely when it has boot issue. File backup feature can be used to back up important user data. If there are a large quantity of computers, you can purchase EaseUS Backup Center to manage the backups on the client computers centrally. 

  • What are the major features of EaseUS Todo Backup enterprise?

    The major features of EaseUS Todo Backup Enterprise includes system backup, disk/partition backup, file backup, mail backup, smart backup, schedule backup, command backup, SQL backup, Exchange backup, clone and the ability to restore the above backups including the universal restore.

  • What are the limitations of EaseUS Todo Backup Enterprise Trial?

    EaseUS Todo Backup Enterprise Trial has all the features of the full version. The difference is that the trial version can only be used for 30 days. After expiration, all the functions will not be available unless you purchase a license to activate the trial.

  • I encountered an “Invalid Path” error message when trying to save the backup task. What can I do?

    When saving the task for the first time, EaseUS Todo Backup will attempt to create a sub folder with the same name as the task in the selected path. It is recommended that users check if the given credential has sufficient privilege to write to the selected path. 

  • What credential is required running the backup tasks?

    EaseUS Todo Backup user interface requires a local administrator privilege to load.

    For schedules, if not specified, EaseUS Todo Backup will utilize System privilege to perform the task.

    When scheduling a backup task to a network folder, users are recommended to fill in a local administrator credential with access to the destination folder to avoid backup failures caused by insufficient privilege to write to the destination folder.

  • What happens when I restore an ExchangeMail backup?

    Restoring an ExchangeMail backup will only add the non-existing mails back to the server. Information added in the Exchange Server since the last backup will be not be affected.

  • What happens when I restore an ExchangeDB backup?

    Restoring an ExchangeDB backup in ExchangeDB mode will overwrite the current mail store. Information added in the Exchange Server since the last backup will be lost.

    Since 11.0 version of the EaseUS Todo Backup Enterprise version, ExchangeDB backups can be restored in Mailbox mode. Users can restore a single mailbox from the whole ExchangeDB backup. 

  • I want to back up the whole Exchange Store. Shall I use ExchangeDB backup or ExchangeMail Backup?

    Users are recommended to use the ExchangeDB method if they want to get a full mail store backup as it would be quicker and use less system resources than doing an ExchangeMail backup including all mailboxes. 

  • How does the Exchange Backup work?

    EaseUS Todo Backup Advanced Server and above edition support two methods to help protect the Exchange server user files including ExchangeDB Backup and ExchangeMail Backup.
    Both methods can backup local Exchange instance.
    ExchangeDB backup method will backup the whole database while ExchageMail backup supports to specify the backup source to a mailbox level. 

  • Will EaseUS Todo Backup work normally if the Windows VSS service is disabled?

    The Disk/Volume Backup feature of the Todo Backup does not rely on Windows VSS service and can work normally when the VSS service is disabled.

    The File Backup feature will not be able to backup open files if the VSS service is disabled.

    SQL Server Backup and Exchange Backup rely on VSS service to work normally. 

  • Which cloud storage options are supported by EaseUS Todo Backup?

    For 11.5 and earlier versions, EaseUS Todo Backup Enterprise version supports Dropbox Personal, Google Drive and OneDrive Personal.

    Since 12.0 version, EaseUS Todo Backup Enterprise version supports Dropbox, Dropbox Business, Google Drive, OneDrive and OneDrive for Business.

  • How to solve “not enough unallocated space” issue?

    The System Clone and System Restoration will require unallocated space in the front of the destination disk. Users are recommended to delete the partitions on the destination disk from Windows Disk Management tool, click Tools- Refresh Disk option from the Todo Backup tool and retry the former operation.

  • The Email Notification mentioned some files failed to backup. Where can I find more details about the failure?

    Users can locate the detail of the files that failed to backup from the “easeus.log” under the bin folder of the installation path.

  • Why do I get constantly get “Failed to operate” error message when trying to restore the files?

    The “Failed to operate” error message can usually be given when:

    1. There are files with the same name existing in the destination folder while the Overwriting option is not ticked.

    2. The full path of the file name exceeds 255 characters.

    Users are recommended to restore to a root folder of another disk to attempt if it will work. 

  • Why am I not able to add encryption/password protection to an existing task?

    The Encryption option can only be set up when the task is created. The option cannot be edited once the task has been saved.

  • To ensure data safety, can I encrypt the backup image?

    Yes, users can use a password to protect the backup image contents from unauthorized access. This feature is under Backup Options- Encryption.

  • What type of FTP server does EaseUS Todo Backup support? Does it support TLS secured FTP server?

    EaseUS Todo Backup supports most of the FTP servers. However, SFTP is not supported yet.

  • To ensure the safety of the backup image, does EaseUS Todo Backup provide any Offsite Storage option?

    Yes, we allow users to use the Backup Option- Offsite Copy to help duplicate the backup image to an Offsite FTP server.


  • Do I have to restore the entire backup image even if I only want a few files from the backup image?

    No need to. We provide two methods for the convenience of users to restore individual files from a backup image. First one is Windows File Explorer Shell that allows to open the backup image to browse the contents with a double click. The other is an Image Tool that works as an individual portable application. 

  • How does one get to know if the backup schedule is working?

    Users can set up Email Notification to send the backup result to a set email address.

  • How can we ensure that the backup image is valid to restore?

    Users can use the Tools - Check Image tool to help verify the backup image and make sure it is valid for restoration.
