  • Can I activate the software on a computer without a network connection?

  • What is the difference between System clone and Disk clone?

    The System clone function will automatically select the System and Boot partitions to clone to ensure that the cloned target disk can be started normally. With Disk/partition clone, you can manually select the entire disk or the specified partition to clone. If system and boot partitions are selected in Disk/partition clone, the result is same as System clone.


  • Can I use the Mail backup function to backup Thunderbird?

    No. Currently, mail backup only supports Outlook Express and Outlook 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016.

  • Will Clone and Backup erase all data on the target disk?

    Clone will, but the Backup will not.

  • Can I back up directly to FTP/sFTP?

    No. However, the Offsite Copy function can create a mirrored backup file to FTP during the backup process. For details, please click here.

  • Is backup to tape supported?

    Yes, it is supported.

  • Can I run multiple backup/clone tasks at the same time?

    No. Backup/clone tasks can only be performed one by one.

  • Can software automatically delete the created backup image to free up the space of the backup target disk?

  • Can I migrate my system from a real machine to a virtual machine?

    The System Transfer function can help you achieve this. Please create a system backup image, then boot target virtual machine using WinPE bootable disk of Todo Backup to restore. 

  • I want to know how to use the created backup image to restore if there is a problem with the system.

    1.Create an Emergency disk using Todo Backup software.
    2.Save the backup image to an external drive and connect the external drive to your computer.
    3.Boot the computer from the Emergency disk and use browse to recover to locate the image to perform the restore.

  • Can I pause the backup during the backup process?

    The backup process cannot be suspended, but the backup can be canceled.

  • After the backup image is created, do I need to restore the entire backup image every time or can I restore individual files from the backup?

    You can restore individual files from the backup image. Please double click on the .PBD image file or right click it and choose open to browse it. Find the target file, right click it to display the menu, and then open, copy and recover specified files in the image. 

  • Can the home version of the license code be used on all computers in the home group?

    No, one license can only be used on one computer.

  • Can I install the software directly on a USB flash drive or DVD?

    You can only create a WinPE Bootable Disk of Todo Backup to a USB flash drive or DVD, please click here to know more about it.


  • Can the backup image created by EaseUS Todo Backup be restored with Windows Restore? Can the backup image created by the Windows default backup function be restored using EaseUS Todo Backup?

    This is impossible. The image created by EaseUS Todo Backup can only be restored by Todo Backup software, and the image created by Windows default backup function can only be restored by Windows.

  • Can I use a computer to work during a disk backup?

    Yes. When the software starts to backup the disk, it will first make a snapshot of the current state of the disk. The data before the snapshot will be backed up, and the data after the snapshot will not.

  • Does the Free/Home Edition support backup to the cloud?

    Free/Home Edition supports to backup to the cloud, but the supported cloud services are limited to Google Cloud, Dropbox and OneDrive.

  • I am not so tech-savvy and I don’t know much about EaseUS Todo Backup. How can I walk through this product easily?

    It is highly recommended that you refer to our user guide and watch the introduction video tutorial. If you still have any further inquiry about the product, please write an email to our tech support to get a further assistance.

  • How can I know how much space I need to save the image file?

    Before you create a backup image, you can estimate how much space you will need to save the image based on the size of the selected data. For example, if the selected data is 500GB, then you’d better ensure that the target location has about 500GB free space.

  • How can I confirm that the backup image is completed and can be restored?

    You can use Check Image feature to verify whether the image is complete or not. If the check can be completed, it means that the image is complete and can be restored.

  • Can I restore the image created by Trial version after the 30-day free trial period?

    The trial version cannot be used any further after expiration, but the image created by trial version will not expire. You will be able to restore that image after activating the trial version to full one.

  • What is the image file created by EaseUS Todo Backup? Can it be decryted by other applications?

    EaseUS Todo Backup creates a .PBD image file that cannot be decrypted by any 3rd-party applications. The .PBD file can only be opened on the PC having this product installed. You can choose to restore the whole image or individual files by double clicking and browsing the image.

  • What is the difference between Clone and Backup? In what cases should I use Clone?

    Clone will copy a disk to another disk, a partition to another partition/unallocated space on the same disk or a partition to another disk. Usually, this option is used to upgrade the current disk by creating an identical copy with the source. Backup will generate a .PBD image file containing the selected files or system that can be restored from the .PBD image if needed.

  • How can I restore a system backup when my computer fails to boot?

    Generally, you will be prompted to create an emergency disk when you install and run EaseUS Todo Backup for the first time. The emergency disk will be useful to load a system backup prior to Windows when the PC refuses to boot.

  • What is the difference between System Backup and Disk Backup?

    System Backup will auto-select the system boot related partition(s) as backup source to make sure the system image can be restored normally. Disk/Partition Backup will allow you to manually select the whole disk or speficy a certain partition as a backup source. You will get a same backup result as System Backup if you manually select the system and boot partitions with Disk/Partition Backup option.

  • What kind of storage service should I use to save my backup images?

    EaseUS Todo Backup can save backup images to internal disks, external disks, network drives, Free Cloud(Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive) and CD/DVD. It is suggested to save the images to the internal/external/network drives to save time as those kinds of disks have a better read-write speed. It is suggested NOT to save the image on the same disk together with the source file, because once the disk is damaged, all the files on the disk will become unavailable and you will be unable to restore the image.

  • As a computer newbie, what features should I use to protect my computer?

    You can use System Backup to backup the system and boot partitions, use Disk/Partition backup to backup the data partition and add plans to run an automatic backup. If you use the computer frequently or have some software that may causes boot failure of the computer, we would suggest that you backup the computer every 1 to 2 days. For other situations, you can backup the computer once a week. In addition, you can schedule File Backup to backup the files which change frequently.

  • What are the major features of EaseUS Todo Backup Home?

    The major features of EaseUS Todo Backup Home includes system backup, disk/partition backup, file backup, mail backup, smart backup, scheduled backup, clone and the ability to restore the above backups including the universal restore.

  • Can EaseUS Todo Backup Free be used for commercial purposes?

    As stipulated by EaseUS license agreement, it is not allowed to use the free version for commercial purposes. You can download EaseUS Todo Backup Enterprise Trial version to fully test the program for 30 days.

  • What is the difference between EaseUS Todo Backup Free and EaseUS Todo Backup Home?

    Both of them are for home users except that the Home version includes more advanced features such as system transfer and mail backup. 

  • What are the limitations of EaseUS Todo Backup Home Trial?

    EaseUS Todo Backup Home Trial provides same features as full version. The only difference is that the trial version will expire after 30 days. You will not be able to use the program any more unless activating it with a purchased license.
