Can I Roll Back from Sonoma to Ventura Without Losing Data

I installed Sonoma without a Dev Account (using a package installer) and now want to downgrade without losing data or doing a reset. I tried using the Ventura package installer, but it says, 'This volume cannot be downgraded'.

Suppose you want to roll back from Sonoma to Ventura without losing data. In that case, the easiest way for you is to download macOS Ventura and then recover files after factory resetting Mac using Time Machine backup, which was made before downloading macOS 14 beta.

Follow the steps below to downgrade macOS Sonoma to Ventura by restoring from Time Machine:

Step 1. Connect your Time Machine drive to your Mac, and then restart your Mac.

Step 2. For Intel Macs: Hold 'Command + R' when the Apple logo pops up.

For Silicon Macs: Hold the power button until the startup screen pops up. Go to 'Options > Continue'.

Step 3. Choose the desired backup in Time Machine.

Step 4. Select 'Restore from this Time Machine Backup' and tap the 'Continue' button.

Step 5. Follow the prompts for reinstallation and restore your data from Time Machine Backup.

If you don't have a Time Machine backup, you should back up essential files/data manually and erase your Mac. Note that erasing your Mac may cause data loss. In this case, you can use EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard for Mac to restore your lost data. Follow the steps below:

Step 1. Install the EaseUS recovery tool on your Mac and select the partition your lost data was stored.

Step 2. Click 'Scan' to view all data/files on the selected partition, and choose the data/files you want to restore.

Step 3. Click 'Preview' to view the content of the selected files, and click 'Recover' to get them back.

Use EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard to recover deleted or lost files easily and quickly.
