How to Recover MOV Files on SD Card

I hope to recover approximately 3.5GB of MOV files from my Sandisk 64 GB SD Card, which became corrupted after a crash on my DSLR about 2 hours ago. I looked into apps, but the price isn't worth it in the broad scheme. Any assistance?

Yes, when your  Sandisk SD card becomes unreadable or is formatted, the data saved on it is lost. However, all files remain in the card's location and can be recovered using data recovery software. It enables data recovery and may assist anyone with lost recovery, formatted recovery, RAW recovery, and other tasks.

However, when it comes to SD card recovery, whatever you do, make a disk image with the trusted programs first, then set the card away, and do not write new data until the data is recovered. Use the disk image as the source for the file recovery. To be specific, there are some things you should and should not do to give yourself the best chance of success. Here's a quick review of what you should do when recovering data and files from an SD card:

  • Scan your SD card with expert recovery software to recover deleted files.
  • Use a compatible card reader to connect your SD card to a computer.

And do not:

  • Attempt to recover data from your SD card without using expert software. Alternatively, your files will be permanently damaged.
  • Before retrieving lost or deleted files, write fresh data to your SD card, which may overwrite your lost data and render it unrecoverable.
