[Fixed] How to Recover Deleted Steam Game Progress

I accidentally deleted my game save that had literal years of progress. After realizing my mistake, I tried to disconnect from the internet and task-quit the game to prevent it from updating the Steam Cloud, but it was gone. Is there no chance of recovering the game save? And if not, why can't the game send deleted saves to the recycle bin or a local 'deleted' folder?

Or you can follow the step below to recover your lost game progress from Steam Cloud:

Step 2. Uncheck 'Enable Steam Cloud Sync' and click 'Close'.

Step 3. Go to the backups folder, and pick the file with the save date you want to restore.

Here is the answer to your last question about why the deleted saves are not in the Recycle Bin so that you can not recover deleted files from Recycle Bin.

There are some reasons that the deleted files don't show up in the Recycle Bin:

  • You delete your files permanently by Shift + Delete.
  • The deleted files are too large to be saved in the Recycle Bin.
  • The Recycle Bin sets not to move deleted files to the Recycle Bin.
  • The files you deleted are stored in USB sticks, memory cards, or other external devices.
