Recover Data from an Unformatted Drive

About 11 months ago, I purchased a Windows Vista-equipped HP Pavillion laptop. Recently, the fan stopped functioning, which made it impossible for me to access Windows. Due to the disk's indication of being unformatted, the store cannot recover the data (corrupt). Can I restore disk data from my laptop that won't boot?

You can clean install Windows operating system on your laptop again or remove the hard drive and use another laptop to fix your hard drive issue. There are lots of ways to repair a corrupted hard disk without formatting:

If the files are damaged or corrupted, this tool can help you repair the files and recover them. Then you can use some methods to repair your unformatted hard drive and recover your data.

2. Repair the hard disk with CMD. You can conduct a CHKDSK scan to repair the corrupt hard drive without formatting it when a hard drive's file system becomes corrupt, and you are unable to access the hard disk. In the Command Prompt window, enter the command: chkdsk E: /f /r /x. Replace E with your drive letter in the command.

3. Download and try a file system repair tool. If you are not a computer expert, maybe it is hard for you to use CMD commands. A file system repair program can help you repair your laptop's hard disk with one click.

4. After you reinstall your Windows operating system on your laptop, you can update the disk driver with Device Manager. After repairing your hard drive, you can send your laptop to the retailer and recover all the files from your laptop.
