My New Drive Appears In Device Manager But Not In Disk Management

I'm having trouble with an external USB drive formatted with exFAT. It's not showing up anywhere except Device Manager. I tried to format it, but it doesn't show up in Disk Management. Any ideas? Thanks.

A new drive may appear in Device Manager but not in Disk Management for several reasons:

  • The drive may not be initialized.
  • Incompatible file system.
  • Outdated or corrupted drivers.
  • Missing or damaged partitions.

To fix this issue, you can first try checking it in a third-party disk manager like EaseUS Partition Master.

Windows 11/10/8/7100% Secure

This tool should be able to show any drives connected to your system. You can try to initialize the disk using this tool.

If it's because of an unsupported file system, you can also use it to format the USB drive to NTFS or other compatible formats.

You should also check whether the disk drivers are updated to the latest version. If not, open Device Manager, right-click on your disk in Disk drivers, and select "Update driver."

For the issues with partitions, you can create a new partition in EaseUS Partition Master or use its Check File System feature to scan and repair disk errors.
