I Can't Extend My File Server D, What Should I Do?

I can't delete and expand everything on the user AD drive. I know the 2TB limit for MBR, but the Convert to GPT is grayed out. So far, I am not a storage expert. What should I do to see the extra 500GB of space?

First, we need to know the file limit size of MBR and GPT: MBR supports only 2TB drives, while GPT has no limit for this and supports more than four primary partitions. The partition table is likely limited if you can't see your extra 500GB of space. Disk Management or the command line can convert MBR to GPT.

If convert to GPT is grayed out in Disk Management, it is because of existing partitions on the disk. Disk Management can only change MBR to GPT for empty non-system disks. So you need to erase all partitions before converting.

Follow these two methods to resolve MBR disk limitations:

Way 1. Convert to GPT by Using a Third-party Tool

EaseUS Partition Master Server is the best partition conversion tool if you don't want to delete partitions or find CMD complicated. It is simple and easy to use. Even if you are not an expert, you can easily solve the problem of being unable to extend partitions on your D drive:
