Instead of formatting the new partition to exFAT after creating, you can choose the file system during the process of creating a partition. There are two main ways to easily format a new partition for different scenarios: a practical all-around software EaseUS Partition Master and Windows built-in tool Disk Management. The following cases may match what you need in formatting a new partition:

Case 1. System Drive Partition - EaseUS Partition Master

When it comes to creating a new system drive partition and formatting it, you can only seek help from a reliable third-party tool because Disk Management has no permission to change its file system. Install EaseUS Partition Master and follow our tips to format the new partition to exFAT:

Step 1. Head to EaseUS Partition Master and click "Partition Manager" to ensure that your drive has unallocated space:

(If yes, start from step 2. If no, skip to step 4.)

Step 2. Right-click an existing partition with much free space to select "Resize/Move."

Step 3. Click "OK" after dragging one of the partition ends to reduce the partition and make room for the new partition.

Step 4. Right-click the unallocated space to select "Create."

Customize the drive letter, partition label, file system(pick exFAT), and other advanced options. Select "OK."

Step 5. Begin partitioning by clicking "Execute 1 Task" and "Apply."

Case 2. Normal Drive Partition - Disk Management

If you want to format the normal drive partition to exFAT, Disk Management can serve for you. Here is how to do it:
