If you want to keep using Windows 7 on the new laptop, there are two options available: 1️⃣Using the old system drive on the new laptop, 2️⃣or cloning the old system drive to the new disk of the laptop.

To use the old disk on the new laptop is workable when it satisfy the following criterias:

  • *️⃣The old disk is compatible with the new laptop and can work smoothly on the old disk.
  • *️⃣The old disk has enough or larger storage capacity than the new disk, and helps to improve the performance of the laptop.

If it doesn't meet the above standards, it is suggested to clone Windows 10 to the disk on the new laptop, which will create a 1-to-1 copy of the source disk on the target disk. With it, you can continue to use Windows 7 OS on the new laptop seamlessly.

When it comes to system cloning, most users may think of EaseUS Disk Copy, which is one of the most popular disk cloning tools out there. It comes with system cloning, disk cloning, and partition cloning features, and is compatible with various types of HDDs and SSDs. Using it, you can migrate Windows 7 OS to the disk of the new laptop, and run Window 7 seamlessly. Now, follow the steps to do it.

📚Notice: You should create a backup of the important data on the new laptop because the cloning will erase all data on the target disk.

  • Step 1. Take the old hard drive from the computer, and connect it to the laptop through a USB-to-SATA cable or adapter.
  • Step 2. Launch EaseUS Disk Copy on the new and select Disk Mode.
  • Step 3. Choose the old hard drive as the source disk, and click Next.
  • Step 4. Select the disk of the new laptop as the target disk, and click Next.
  • Step 5. Adjust the disk layout and click Proceed to start cloning.

When it finishes, you can disconnect the old disk, and restart your laptop. It will automatically boot from the Windows 7 and you can use it seamlessly.
