How to Create a Recovery USB for Windows 10 in Lenovo Laptop?

Hi, I have upgraded my Lenovo laptop to Windows 10 using the upgrade feature from Microsoft. Now I am trying to create a recovery drive but I can't see my USB jump drives. Does anyone have any idea how to create a recovery USB for my Windows 10 Lenovo laptop?

Sometimes you just can't create a recovery drive after upgrading your Lenovo laptop to Windows 10 using the official upgrade feature. In this case, you could try the three solutions below:

1. Use another USB drive

If you can't find anything on your computer, maybe there's something wrong with your USB. Just try another USB that works fine and see if your PC can detect it.

2. Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter to diagnose the exact issue

  • Press Windows + X on the keyboard and select Control Panel.
  • Type Troubleshooting in the search bar on the Control Panel and click on Hardware and sound under Troubleshoot computer problems.
  • Click on Hardware and devices under Devices and click on Advanced on the Hardware and devices dialog box. Then, click on Run as administrator.
  • Click on Next and follow onscreen instructions to complete the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.

3. Create a recovery drive

  • Search for Create a recovery drive in the taskbar and select it.
  • Select Back up system files to the recovery drive and click Next.
  • Select the USB drive connected to your PC and select Next > Create.
  • When you see a Delete the recovery partition from your PC link on the final screen, click on the link and select Delete to free up drive space on your PC. Or, select Finish to exit.
