What is the Best Way to Transfer Data from One Hard Drive to Another?

I'd like to change my old drive to a new, larger drive but I'm not sure how to do it. Can you please tell me what is the best way to transfer data from one hard drive to another?

I would say cloning the hard drive to another one is the best way to transfer data from one hard drive to another. To clone the hard drive, you will need a third-party tool called EaseUS Disk Copy.

For Windows 11/10/8/7

This tool is capable of upgrading hard drives without losing data, migrating Windows 10/11 without reinstalling, and replacing failing hard drives for complete data recovery, etc. Check more features of it:

  • Clone an old HDD/SSD to a new one easily
  • Transfer data from one drive to another
  • Create a complete backup for instant restore
  • Clone a drive with bad sectors safely

Steps to clone hard drive with EaseUS Disk Copy:

Step 1. After downloading and installing, run EaseUS Disk Copy on your PC and click Disk Mode. Select the hard drive that you want to copy or clone and click Next to continue.

Step 2. Select the destination disk. Remember that the destination disk should be the same big or larger than the source disk if you want to copy or clone the source hard disk.

Step 3. Click OK to confirm if the program asks to erase data on the destination disk.

Step 4. Check and edit the disk layout. If your destination disk is an SSD drive, do remember to tick Check the option if the target is SSD.

Step 5. Click Proceed to start the cloning process. And wait for the result patiently.
