Normally, you want a clean install because your current system is not running properly. In this case, restoring the apps you had before is not recommended.

But if you really need to restore them, you need to keep your activation keys safe and keep a copy of their installation files because except for some portable, self-contained programs, the majority of your applications will probably need to be installed again from the original installation files.
