Method 1. Recover Office and PowerPoint files from AutoSave

Since PowerPoint is also a tool in Office, so when you have set AutoSave feature, and then you'll be able to find saved PowerPoint files in the AutoRecovery. Here is the right sequence of setting up the AutoSave feature in PowerPoint:

Open PowerPoint > Preferences > Save > Set the AutoRecover frequency (every 10 minutes by default)

Turn on AutoSave in PowerPoint on Mac.

If you have turned on the AutoSave feature, you can restore and find lost files from the AutoRecovery folder on Mac.

Step 1: Go to Finder, then click "Go", then Go to Folder

/Users/username/Library/Application Support/ Microsoft/Office/Office X AutoRecovery (X stands for Office version of your PPT).

~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.PowerPoint/Data/Library/Preferences/AutoRecovery

Step 3: Check the AutoRecovery Folder.

Step 4: If you find the saved file named as AutoRecovery***, marked with other extensions, open it with PowerPoint.

Method 2. Find Unsaved PPT files in the TemporaryItems folder 

The TemporaryItems folder may also contain the unsaved PPT files that you lost by accident.

Step 1: Go to Applications> Utilities > Terminal.

Open TemporaryItem folder.

Step 2: Once in Terminal, enter the following command and then press enter: open $TMPDIR.

Type command line to open Temporary foder.

Step 3: You have now opened your TMP folder, open the folder named TemporaryItems.

Step 4:Find the PowerPoint file, copy and paste it to another location, and change the extension from ".tmp" to ".ppt".
