Mac Lion OS X 10.7.3 is by far the newest and most advanced OS from Apple. But with time, as it gets overloaded and overused, just like any other OS, even Lion OS X 10.7.3 might also become running slow and give you performance issues.

Regardless the OS we are working on, there are few things that can be taken care, which would help you improve the speed of that respective OS. You can try them out on Mac OS X also.

Close programs properly. Unlike Windows, applications do not close on Mac completely if you hit on CROSS (X) button as it would be still running in the background. In order to close the program completely, use Command + Shift + ESC, and this will kill its background process too.

Clean logs and caches. Most of log files you never need to review. You can delete many of these files without affecting your Mac, and you can save significant space, since some of these files can be quite large. Temporary files consume a lot of space as well, like Safari cache. If you do not revisit the same websites and run same applications every day, temporary files will be a waste of disk space. Get the clean software, such as EaseUS CleanGenius. Then clean the log files and temporary files routinely.

Uninstall unused apps. There is no point in keeping the apps if you are not using them as you do not know, they might be running in the background and consuming resources, which in turn would hamper your Mac performance.
