If you have ever synced your contacts with iCloud, you can download contacts to the computer from iCloud, and then transfer them to a SIM card.
Step 1. Sync contacts with iCloud. Head to your Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Contacts, switch the button to the right.
Step 2. Download synced contacts to your computer from the iCloud website. Open iCloud.com and sign in with your Apple ID and password.
Step 3. When you enter the iCloud page, choose Contacts.

While you can't save data on your SIM card directly, but if you want to export contacts from SIM card to your iPhone, it is easy to make it.
Step 1. Insert the SIM card that has the contacts you want to import to your iPhone.
Step 2. Go to the Settings on your iPhone.
Step 3. Tap Contacts. (If your iPhone running iOS 10 and earlier, tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars)
Step 4. Tap Import SIM Contacts.
Step 5. Once the process is complete, you can remove this SIM card and replace it with your former SIM card.
