iTunes Store is really convenient for iOS users to download/purchase ringtones. However, it will cost you a small fortune. If you don't want to pay for it, you can navigate to Method 1 to put audios to the iPhone via MobiMover for free. If you don't mind how much it costs, then you can use this method.

Step 1. Open the iTunes Store app from your Home Screen.

Step 2. Tap the Search button on the bottom of your screen.

Step 3. Type the name of ringtone you'd like to buy into the search bar. You can search for ringtones by title, artist, or genre. 

Step 4. Tap the ringtone you want to download.

Step 5. Tap the Buy button on the right of your screen.

Step 6. Enter your Touch ID, Face ID, or Apple ID password when prompted > Tap OK.

Do you want to make a custom ringtone yourself? If so, using iTunes to create and add custom ringtones to your iPhone via iTunes is a good choice.

Notice:
This method only works for music purchased from the iTunes Store. You can check if an item was purchased by right-clicking the top sort bar and checking the Kind option. Items will show as "Purchased" or "Protected" if they were purchased via iTunes. If the music you want to make as the ringtone is not in the iTunes Library, click "File" > "Add File to Library" to add the music you like to iTunes.

Step 1. Launch the latest version of iTunes on your desktop or laptop > Connect the iPhone to the computer.

Step 2. Click the device icon > Tap "Summary" > Check "Manually manage music and videos ."

Step 3. Click the "Back" button and go to "Songs" > "Library." 

Step 4. Right-click on the song and select "Get Info". In the Get Info window, select the "Options" tab and change the start and stop time to read the segment of the song you want to save as ringtone (less than 30 seconds).

Step 5. When you have entered the Start and Stop time, click OK.

Step 6. Go back to iTunes library, select the original song, then tap "File" > "Convert" > Select "Create AAC Version." Afterward, iTunes will take the segment you have selected from the song in Step 4 and use it to create the new file. 

Step 7. Right-click the shortened version and choose "Show in Windows Explorer" (or Show in Finder on Mac). 

Step 8. Copy and paste the song to your desktop and change the extension from .m4a to .m4r. Confirm your changes.

Step 9. Now go back to the iTunes Library and delete the newly created short song: right-click the song, choose "Delete from Library" > "Delete Song" > "Move to Recycle Bin."

Step 10. Select the "Tones" tab, drag and drop the ringtone from desktop to iTunes. Now the custom ringtone is added to your iPhone.

Bonus Tip: How to Set a Song as Custom Ringtone on iPhone

After adding ringtones you like on your iPhone, you may want to turn your favorite song or music track into a custom ringtone. Here's how to set your iPhone's ringtone.

  • Default: Open the Settings app > Scroll down and tap Sounds & Haptics > Tap Ringtone, and then tap your ringtone's name.
  • Specific contact: Open the Contacts app > Tap a contact's name > Tap "Edit" > Choose Ringtone > Tap Done in the top-right corner of the screen > Tap Done again to save your changes.
