The iPhone/iPad contains a lot of important data such as contacts, SMS messages, call history, notes, voice memos, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to back up your iPhone/iPad regularly so that you don't lose any data. In this article, we will show you three ways to do iPhone backup on Windows/Mac.

Method 1: Create iPhone Backup with iTunes

Apple provides you with the free data backup program iTunes. Every time you sync your iPhone/iPad with iTunes, iTunes will automatically back up your iOS device. If you want to create your own iTunes backup, it's also easy. Follow the steps below. The manual is available for both Windows and Mac OS X.

Before backing up your iPhone/iPad, you should download and install the latest version of iTunes, and fix the problems like This Accessory May Not Be Supported

Step 1: Launch iTunes and connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer with a USB cable.

Step 2: Click on the device icon, and then you will find yourself in an explorer window.

Step 3: In the Backups pane, select "This computer" and then click "Back up now". iTunes will then back up all of your iPhone's data to your computer.

iTunes supports all popular iPhone, iPad and iPod models such as iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 7, iPhone 6/6 Plus, iPhone 5s/5c/4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, iPod touch 6 etc. After you have created an iTunes backup of your iPhone, you will be able to restore the backup to your iPhone in the future.

Method 2: Create an iCloud backup from your iPhone/iPad

The Apple iCloud's cloud service also gives you the ability to create iPhone/iPad backup in the iCould Backup. As long as your iPhone is connected to a WLAN network, your iPhone files are automatically backed up to iCloud.

Step 1: Connect your iPhone via WLAN.

Step 2: Tap Settings > iCloud. Scroll down and tap Backup.

Step 3: Activate the "iCloud Backup" option, and then tap "Create backup now". Then a backup is created in iCloud.

Note: You must keep your iPhone connected to the WLAN network during the process.

A disadvantage of this method is that iCloud has only 5 GB of free disk space. If there are many files on your iPhone/iPad, the free storage space will not be enough. Then you will have to pay for additional storage space.
