Part 1. Backup WhatsApp Messages on iPhone

There are four ways to back up WhatsApp messages on iPhone - via EaseUS MobiMover, iCloud, iTunes, and Email, among which EaseUS MobiMover is the most optimal option since it offers unlimited storage (which depends on your computer' memory) and supports backing up only WhatsApp data. The next way is using iCloud and iTunes, which backups everything from your iPhone to the cloud. And the last way is using Email, which is ideal for backing up a few messages.

Way 1. How to Backup WhatsApp Messages via EaseUS MobiMover

As we mentioned earlier, EaseUS MobiMover is a hassle-free and one-click solution to backup WhatsApp chat history. It provides both backup and restore service for WhatsApp files. Not just that, the application can help you transfer files between two iOS devices and between an iOS device and a computer, download videos from YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and other 1000+ video-sharing websites, and unlock iPhone/iPad without a password. For more details, you can download this WhatsApp backup tool on your computer to explore.

Step 1. Connect your iPhone to your computer using a USB cable, launch EaseUS MobiMover, and choose "WhatsApp" > "Backup".

Way 2. How to Backup WhatsApp Messages to iCloud

iCloud is the simplest and most effective way to back up WhatsApp messages. First is because It offers 5GB of free storage to iCloud users. Second is because it doesn't require a computer or any other third-party software to assist. The third is because it can back up only WhatsApp data to iCloud rather than backing up everything.

Step 1. Go to the Settings > Your profile > iCloud.

Step 2. Scroll down to find WhatsApp and tap the switch to toggle it on.

Step 3. Go to your WhatsApp > Tap on the Settings menu > Chat button > Chat Backup > Back Up Now.

Notice:
If you want to back up WhatsApp data automatically, then you can turn on the Auto Backup toggle and choose how frequently you want to back up. Additionally, if you want to back up videos, don't forget to choose "Include Videos." It worth noting that videos may consume a great deal of storage of iCloud. For that, we recommend you back up videos using an alternative way.

Way 3. How to Back Up WhatsApp Messages Without iCloud via iTunes

iTunes is another ideal option to back up WhatsApp messages if you wish to backup WhatsApp without iCloud. Instead of backing specific WhatsApp data as iCloud does, iTunes backs up everything on your iPhone. This way is more suitable for users who are planning to reset their device since restoring the iPhone from iTunes will erase everything on your iPhone. To back up WhatsApp messages without iCloud using iTunes, you can follow these steps:

Step 1. Connect your iPhone to the computer (Mac/PC) with a USB cable > Launch the latest version of iTunes.

Step 2. Once your device icon appears, go to the Summary tab and click on the "Back Up Now" at the right side of your iTunes's screen. (If iTunes fail to detect your iPhone, you need to fix it before backing up)

Step 3. Wait for iTunes to complete the process.

Way 4. How to Back Up WhatsApp Messages via the Email

If you just have a few WhatsApp chats to save, then you can use Email to send them to yourself. Note that this way has three drawbacks:

  • It won't restore the chats.
  • It can't back up multimedia files.
  • It is tedious to back up multiple conversations.

Step 1. Open WhatsApp on your iPhone > Find the WhatsApp chats you want to save.

Step 2. Swipe from right to left on the conversation to get the more options > Choose the "Email Chat."

Step 3. After that, you will get three options to include/exclude attachments of the chat or cancel the process, just choose "Without Media." You are not recommended to choose "Attach Media" since large media files will take a lot of storage.

Step 4. Then, you can choose the email app and send the Whatsapp chats to yourself or others.

Part 2. Backup WhatsApp Messages on Android

There are two different ways to back up WhatsApp messages on Android - via Google Drive and via Email. The former is your first choice since it has unlimited storage for WhatsApp files. And the latter is more suitable for users who have a few chats to save.

Way 1. How to Back Up WhatsApp Messages via Google Drive

WhatsApp has reached an agreement with Google to no longer count backups against Google Drive storage quotas, starting November 12, 2018. That's great news for WhatsApp users since they can back up as many messages as they can to Google Drive without worrying about running short of storage. Here's how to backup with Google Drive.

Step 1. Launch WhatsApp on your phone, tap the menu icon(three vertical dots) on the top right of the screen > Tap Settings.

Way 2. How to Back Up WhatsApp Messages via Email

If you have a few chats to save, then you can send them to yourself or others. Here are the steps to do it.

Step 1. Open WhatsApp on your phone > Tap the three dots > Select "Chats" > Click on "Chat History" > Choose the "Email Chat" option.

Step 2. A list of conversations will be displayed, then you can select the ones that you'd like to back up and whether you want to back up media files.

Step 3. Enter your email address and click the "Send" button to send your chat history.
