iMessage is an Apple built-in application that enables you to send text, photo, video, audio, and more contents. Unlike pure text SMS, iMessage let users send all kinds of messages, for example, pure text, photo, video, and audio messages to anyone within Contacts on any Apple device. In addition, if your iPhone or iPad is running iOS 10 or later, you are allowed to add and use bubble effect for iMessage to get a better visual effect. Now, let's begin to send a message with iMessage.

Differences between iMessage and SMS/MMS

At the very beginning, iMessage must be enabled on your iPhone or iPad, check on how to turn on iMessage on iPhone and iPad. For better use iMessage, you need to clearly tell what is iMessage and what is SMS/MMS.

Blue for iMessage: After you have turned on the iMessage, when your iPhone or iPad has connected to a Wi-Fi network or cellular data, the message you send will be contained in a blue bubble.

Green for SMS/MMS: whether you are with a Wi-Fi network or cellular data or not, the SMS/MMS you send is in a green bubble.

How to send iMessage on iPhone and iPad

Actually, sending iMessage is quite easy, but if you are a newbie at iPhone and iPad, here is how it's done.

1. Tap the Messages app on your home screen.

2. Tap Compose button like a writing picture, then tap the + button to add the contact.

3. Type the message contents. And remember to check the message bubble is blue or not.

How to send instant and existing photos or video using iMessage

Sending instant and existing photos or video using iMessage on iPhone or iPad is also enabled.

1. Open Message app on you iPhone or iPad.

2. Tap Compose button like a writing picture, then tap the + button to add the contact.

3. Tap the Camera button, you will see two choices: Camera and Photo Library. If you want to use an existing photo, choose Photo Library to choose one or multiple images; if you want to use an instant photo, tap Camera to take a fresh new photo. If you want to send video, repeat this step.

4. After you have added target photos or videos, you can add text comments or send directly.

5. Tap Send.

How to share location for a period of time using iMessage

Location share within Message application is very functional for social contact. You can turn on location share to help your find your friends.

1. Open Messages app on you iPhone or iPad.

2. Tap Compose button like a writing picture, then tap the + button to add the contact.

3. Tap on Details in the upper right corner.

4. Tap on Share My Location. And choose the duration for which you want to share your location.
