Part 1: How to mute iPhone during a phone call

Want to prevent others from hearing while making a phone call? This can be easily done with the in-call options. Tap on the Mute icon among the options and you will successfully mute your iPhone X, iPhone 8 or iPhone 7, which enables you to hear from the other person while preventing the person from hearing you.

Part 2: How to mute iPhone

Don't want your iPhone to make any sound while receiving a phone call or notification? No worry. You can make it with the help of the Silent/Ring switch on the left side of your iPhone. To mute your iPhone X, iPhone 8 or iPhone 7, pull the Silent/Ring switch toward the back of your iPhone. (You'd better turn on Vibrate on Silent by going to Settings > Sounds & Haptics to avoid missing some important phone calls. You can also change the vibration pattern/intensity on your iPhone X/8/8 Plus according to your needs.)

Notice
Using the Silent/Ring switch to mute your iPhone X/8/7 doesn't help to mute the sound of the music or alarms. Luckily, you can use the Volume Down button to mute music or alarms on your iPhone by pressing the button to turn the sound all the way down.

Part 3: How to mute sound on iPhone videos

Want to mute a video on your iPhone Camera Roll or remove the sound from a video on your iPhone? Here are the steps to make it.

Step 1: Go to Photos > Albums > Videos from your iPhone X, iPhone 8 or iPhone 7 in iOS 11.

Step 2: Click the video you want to mute and choose Edit at the top of your iPhone screen.

Step 3: Tap on the three dots (...) at the bottom of your iPhone and choose iMovie.

Step 4: Click the speaker icon on the screen to turn the video sound off and then click Done.

Step 5: Then your iPhone will show you that it's Exporting Movie. The movie exported has no sound in it.

By the simple 5 steps above, you can mute videos on your iPhone easily. If you prefer, you can also transfer videos from iPhone to computer and edit the videos on your iPhone X/8/7 from the computer.
