  • Open a blank Microsoft PowerPoint document and click the "File" tab.

Everything in the Unsaved folder is temporary files. Make sure you recover and save everything you need because you might lose it after a few days.

2. AutoRecover

If you’ve saved your work but was interrupted before you could save specific changes, you can retrieve your PowerPoint file using the AutoRecover function. If you don’t have AutoRecover enabled, there’s no other way to retrieve the changes you made to your PowerPoint file. 

First, check if you have it enabled. 

  • Click the "File" > "Options" > "Save". 
  • Make sure that you have checked the box saying "Save auto-recover info every x minutes", and the box saying "Keep the last Auto recovered version if I close without saving".

  • In the same dialogue box, copy the file destination path.
  • Open Windows Explorer, paste the path on the address bar, and hit "Enter".

1. Why cannot I recover 2GB data for free?

It is recommended to check the version installed is Free or Trial because they are different versions.

2. Why cannot the recovered files be opened?

A file is saved as 2 parts on the storage device: directory info (which is comprised by file name, time stamp and size info, etc.) and data content.

If the files with original file names and folder structures cannot be opened, one possible reason is the corrupted directory info. There is still a chance to recover the data content with the RAW Recovery method in our software.

3. Why isn't it suggested to recover the files back to the original drive?

The storage structure of the lost files would be altered or damaged by any changes on the drive.
