SD card not working in windows 10. how to fix?

"I have a small issue with my external SD card on my HP laptop running now Windows 10. The SD card is not detected when it's inserted. I tried the same card on a different laptop running Windows 8.1 and it worked fine. I troubleshoot this issue for hours and it seems never to be fixed in Windows 10. I bet it's not the problem of SD card reader. Will you let me know how to fix SD card not working in Windows 10? It starts after I upgraded HP laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10."

Some people encountered the same SD card not working error after Windows 10 upgrade. The card is neither detected by Windows 10 PC nor showing up in device manager. But retry on another Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 computer, the card can be recognized easily. To repair the SD card problem in Windows 10, you got the following three methods.

Method 1. Check SD Slot on the Windows 10 Computer

If SD card doesn't work in Windows 10 while inserting it to another computer it's showing up, you should first check the SD slot as the card reader works on the other computer. Of course, you may also plug in another SD card into the SD card slot to check the status.

Method 2. Update Driver

As drivers are updated occasionally, you need to go to the computer manufacturer's website to download and install the latest drivers for SD card. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if it helps.

Note that whatever you do, manually set a system restore point in Windows 10 or create Windows 10 backup image by using EaseUS Todo Backup Free before you install any new driver. So you can quickly revert back if there are problems. And you probably should revert back if you want to try another driver to remove any driver that doesn't work, so you don't have potentially conflicting files on your hard drive.
